Mr Marcus Timlin

Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in Spine.

Marcus Timlin graduated from RCSI Medical School in 1995. He completed his basic surgical training in 1998 and obtained a Masters of Surgery degree subsequently, whilst specialising in Orthopaedics. He secured a position on the Irish Higher Surgical Training programme in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery and completed his training in 2007 obtaining his degree FRCSI (Tr & Orth).

Mr Timlin developed a keen interest in spine surgery as a medical student and also while working as registrar and senior registrar at The National Spinal Injuries Unit in The Mater Hospital. He obtained a combined orthopaedic and neurosurgical fellowship in complex spine surgery at the University of Toronto/Toronto Western Hospital in 2007. He was awarded CCST and was entered into the orthopaedic specialist register that same year.

He has an interest in the surgical treatment degenerative conditions of the cervical and lumbar spine, including minimally invasive spine surgery, micro-discectomy, spinal decompression, lumbar and cervical fusions.

With numerous publications and book chapters published in orthopaedic and spine literature, he has presented his research both locally and internationally. He is a member of many learned societies including IITOS, AO Spine, Canadian Spine Society and enjoys training and educating others in the clinical assessment, management and surgical care of the spine patient.
